Porcelain Crowns & Bridges in Jonesboro
We know the last thing you want is to damage or lose a tooth, but it happens more often than you might think. At the office of Anthony Bartels, DDS, we have created thousands of beautiful, comfortable restorations to repair our patients’ smiles so that they can avoid pain and feel confident again.
Protective Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns are one of the most common dental restorations we create. Also known as caps, crowns restore the stability and function of your tooth. Whether you fractured your tooth, had a root canal, or experienced deep decay, we can protect and prolong the life of your tooth by placing a crown over it.
Crowns are also beneficial when old, large silver fillings begin to break down. Because silver amalgams require the removal of a significant amount of tooth structure and because they are made of metal that naturally expands and contracts, your tooth might become unstable upon removal. A porcelain crown can protect your tooth from damage.
Crowns fit over your entire tooth structure from your gums to the chewing surface of your tooth like a protective helmet. This limits sensitivity and makes it comfortable for you to chew again. If you have porcelain crowns and you grind your teeth at night, Dr. Anthony Bartels might recommend a night guard to protect your investment.
Restorative Dental Bridges
Much like the name suggests, bridges "bridge the gap" in your smile caused by a missing tooth. We know that losing a tooth can be a traumatic experience for you. Bridges provide a reliable option to replace your tooth in just a couple of appointments.
When we create a traditional dental bridge, we utilize your adjacent teeth to anchor an artificial tooth used to fill the gap in your smile. These specialized crowns, called abutment crowns, attach to your artificial tooth, called a pontic, and suspend it in the area where your natural tooth was.
In addition to providing aesthetic advantages, your bridge will keep your remaining teeth from shifting. When a gap between your teeth is left for too long, your remaining teeth will shift and tilt toward that gap, like removing a book from the bookshelf. This creates problems with your appearance as well as with your bite and puts the health of your remaining teeth at risk.
Our bridges look completely natural because we create them to match your smile. That way, no one will know you are missing a tooth and you can feel confident about your smile again.
