If you are looking for children’s dentistry in the Jonesboro area, you have come to the right place! We welcome patients of all ages to Anthony Bartels, DDS and make dental care easy and convenient for the whole family.

When Should I Bring My Child In?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry states that your child should have their first dental appointment by their first birthday. Their first dental appointment is foundational in maintaining a lifetime of healthy smiles! By helping your child get off to an early start with great oral care, we can work together as a team to make dentistry a fun and comfortable part of your little one’s life.

At their first appointment, we will take them for a ride in the dental chair, perform an oral exam, and spend plenty of time with you, the parent, to go over some home care tips as well as what to expect as your child develops.

Because you will be playing the biggest day-to-day role in the oral health of your child, we will discuss how to care for your little one’s teeth, what products to use to keep him or her healthy, as well as going over some of your child’s habits. Both thumb sucking and bedtime bottles can have a negative impact on your child’s development and oral health. We can discuss when best to address this and how to approach it in such a way that causes the least amount of disruption at bedtime.

Your child’s first dental appointment will also help them grow accustomed to the sights and sounds of the dental office. We invite you to make it a fun experience for them and we will do the same. Many parents choose to take pictures and make it a big event that your child associates with fun! By making their first visit a good one, we can eliminate any fears or concerns for your child when it comes to children’s dentistry.
